Second Skin Footwear

A group project for an industrial design class focusing on child safety. The group looked specifically at pool safety and worked to design and create a waterproof, and slip-free footwear that children (and adults) could wear around the pool and beach. The snug-fitting shoe protects the sole of the foot while allowing flexibility and unhindered swimming.
It has a thicker base and rubber pads at the areas in most regular contact with the ground, making it suitable to be worn in and out of the water, so footwear doesn't need to be removed for the transition between water a land. There are opportunities for it to be utilised in varying contexts such as at the beach for protection, or yoga where grip may be needed.
